Q: How do I view my reservation?
Visit our reservations page to view or cancel your reservation.
Q: What is check in/check out time?
Check-in is at 4:00pm. Check-out is at 11:00am.
Q: Do you allow smoking on property? Or in the guestrooms?
Smoking is NOT allowed in any part of the hotel or in the guestrooms. There is a $250 cleaning fee, per instance, of smoking anywhere in the building which will be charged to your guestroom. Guests may smoke outside in designated smoking areas.
Q: Could you explain the facility fee?
Our facility fee is a per day fee which includes wireless internet access for all guests (and all devices) within your guestroom, valet parking, use of our fitness center, free local and long distance calls, and a daily cup of coffee from the Bistro 1926 for each guest in the room.
Q: How much do you charge for wireless internet access?
Wireless internet access is included in our facility fee.
Q: Do you have a fitness center? What kind of equipment does it have? What are the hours?
Our 24-hour fitness center features free weights, cardio equipment, and a Nautilus Power Cage.
Q: Do you offer room service? What are the hours?
We offer room service daily from 7:00am-10:30pm.
Q: Do you have a business center?
We do not have a business center, but please inquire at the front desk or with your conference planner if you require assistance. We do have a three computer kiosk in the lobby near the front desk available for guest use.
Q: Do you have a pool or a spa?
We do not have a pool or a spa.
Q: Do your rooms have mini-bars?
Our guestrooms do not have mini-bars. Refrigerators are available upon request at a rate of $15 per day.
Q: Who owns The Historic Thayer Hotel?
A consortium of West Point graduates led by Managing General Partner, Rick Minnicozzi, USMA Class of ’86, are proud owners of The Historic Thayer Hotel. The hotel is managed by Director of Operations, Carlys Lemler, USMA Class of ’01.

The hotel was built in 1926.

Q: Where do I enter West Point?
You should enter at the Thayer Gate. At the Thayer Gate you, and all occupants of your vehicle who are over 16 years of age, will be asked to furnish a valid photo identification such as; a current valid driver’s license or passport, or school ID (must be school-age). Acceptable forms of identification for adults over 18 include: driver’s licenses, a US passport, Department of Defense issued identification card, a permanent resident card/Alien Registration Receipt Card (1-551), a foreign passport with a temporary I-551 stamp or visa or an employment authorization document that contains a photograph (Form I-766). Driver’s licenses from the American Samoa, Minnesota, Missouri and Washington State will have to use one of the other approved form of identification to enter West Point. See Parking PDF.
Q: Do I need any special pass to enter The Thayer Hotel?
When you enter West Point at the Thayer Gate, you do not require a special pass to enter The Thayer Hotel. Q: Do you offer free shuttle service?
Unfortunately, we do not offer shuttle service.
Q: Do you have valet parking? How much is parking?
Yes. Valet parking is included in the facility fee for our individual guests, and it is included in the cost of your special event or corporate meeting package. If you do not opt for valet service, but would like assistance with your luggage, please use the call box located at the parking lot entrance for golf cart assistance. One of our valet will assist you and provide you a ride to the front door of the hotel.
Q: Is there handicap parking?
We have limited handicap parking spaces located at the front of the hotel. In the event that those are taken, our valet staff will assist you.
Q: What is the closest train station/airport?
The closest train station is the Metro-North station in Garrison, NY, about a 15 minute drive. The closest airport is Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, NY, about a 30 minute drive.
Q: Do you provide transportation in and around the US Military Academy at West Point?
While we are located on Academy grounds we do not offer regular transportation. Please inquire at the Front Desk for group transportation options.
Q: How do I view my reservation?

Q: Will your rooms allow rollaway beds and/or cribs? Is there an extra charge?
Most rooms can accommodate a rollaway bed and all rooms can accommodate a crib. You may also inquire about the availability of a room with a sofa bed.
Q: I booked on a website other than the hotel website and I need to make a change to my reservation. How do I do this?
Please contact the booking agent that you used when you made the reservation.
Q: What is the minimum age requirement to check in to the room?
18 years old.
Q: What is your cancellation/deposit policy?
If booked directly through the hotel, we have a 24-hour prior to arrival cancellation policy on most reservations. You must cancel by 3:00pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) the day prior to arrival to avoid penalty. On certain reservations a special cancellation policy may apply. If booked through a third party, please contact the booking agent directly for cancellation policies.
Q: Is my ID/passport required at check in?
We do require a photo ID at the time of check-in for all reservations.
Q: Do you have adjoining rooms?
Yes, however, availability is not guaranteed until arrival at the hotel.
Q: Do you have ADA rooms?
We have accessible rooms. Feel free to contact us about any special needs you may have.

Q: Do you offer a military discount?
Yes. We are honored to offer a 20% discount for military personnel and their immediate families in MacArthur’s Riverview Restaurant, General Patton’s Tavern, and Zulu Time Rooftop Lounge.

Our hallways showcase displays selected by the Superintendent of West Point, the West Point Association of Graduates, the Medal of Honor Society and the West Point Museum. Each guestroom is dedicated to a distinguished graduate of West Point. The dedicated rooms hold memorabilia selected by the dedicatee and/or their families that celebrate their accomplishments both at the Academy and beyond. Q: What forms of payment are accepted to pay for my room?
A valid credit card is required to check in to the hotel, but guests may use cash or credit card at check-out to settle their bill. We accept MasterCard, Visa, Diners Club and Discover. We do not accept American Express.
Q: Does the hotel require a deposit for incidentals?
Yes, the hotel requires a $50 deposit per night.
Q: How do I make the incidental deposit?
This deposit can be placed on your credit card.
Q: When will the incidental deposit be returned to my credit card?
The incidental deposit is released on the day of your departure. Your bank will then need to post the transaction to your account.
Q: How much money does the hotel authorize on my credit card at check-in?
At check-in, we authorize your entire stay’s room and tax charges, plus an incidental deposit.
Q: Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately, pets are NOT allowed at The Historic Thayer Hotel.
