The Historic Thayer Hotel at West Point welcomes all guests.  Please find information on this page that will help you prepare for your stay. 

Parking & entering the hotel

Valet parking is complimentary and available 24 hours.  Guests may pull up to the hotel and have their vehicle parked for them, or guests may self-park and receive golf cart assistance from the parking lot.  Hotel parking for all guests is at the bottom of the hill from the hotel.  Designated Handicap Parking spaces are allotted in the front of the hotel entrance; our valet can assist you with unloading and parking your vehicle. 

There is a set of 6 stairs that rise from the Hotel entrance to the lobby with handrails.  We also have elevator access to the lobby from the Hotel entrance for your convenience.

There are elevators to all guestroom floors in the Main Building and our guest elevators have Braille descriptors.  There are rooms on the 2nd floor of the Main Building that can be utilized by guests who are able to maneuver limited steps.  There is elevator access to the 2nd floor (mezzanine level) of the Executive Suites Wing, but there is no elevator access to the 1st and 3rd floors of the Executive Suites Wing.

There is chair lift access to MacArthur's Riverview Restaurant and Zulu Time Bar & Lounge. 

Access to our Fitness Center is by stairs only.  The exterior entrance is approximately 190 feet from the hotel entrance on a downward slope.  The exterior entrance stairs have handrails and consist of 4 stairs, a landing, another 4 stairs and a landing at the entry door.  The interior entrance is via two full sets of stairs.  

Our valet and door staff stand ready to assist with luggage and packages.

attending an event

If you are attending a meeting or social function at the hotel, you should know that all meeting and function spaces are accessible to wheelchairs by way of elevator or ramp.  We will be delighted to escort you to a specific room, or rooms in the hotel. 

If you are attending an event in our Washington Ballroom or Pershing Room, note that there are small threshold step downs from the indoor spaces to the outdoor lawn overlooking the Hudson River. 

If you are attending an event in our Grant Ballroom, there are 4 stairs leading up to the lawn and patio outside of Grant Ballroom.  

All of our functions spaces feature large windows with views overlooking the lawn and Hudson River and are equipped with window shades to minimize glare.  

Our public restrooms are accessible for wheelchair access and feature handrails in the accessible stalls.
